Frequently Asked Questions
My child would like to learn to ride, are there any restrictions for children?
I'm interested in disabled riding lessons, who do I contact for further information?
I have some spare time and like horses but don't want to ride - could I help at the stables?
We have many beginners who want to learn to ride, and suitable horses will be selected to help you get to grips with the basic riding techniques. Beginning in a small group, you will be taught initially to mount, walk, trot and dismount. After a few lessons, cantering is introduced, along with general information on the correct way to lead and untack the horse. Plenty of encouragement is usually on hand from fellow riders!
Yes, we can offer an intensive course of lessons to help get you ready for your holiday.
Children's lessons are hugely popular, and because of demand, there is a lower age limit of 6 years on children's rides. We are very happy to take new riders, and would advise anyone interested to contact us directly and check the waiting list length.
We have a selection of riding hats of the current safety regulation requirements in various sizes available to borrow for your lesson.
Do call to book a lesson, or e-mail with your details, and we will try to fit you in as soon as possible - it can often be at short notice.

We are always looking for more volunteer helpers with the Riding for the Disabled sessions. This involves catching ponies, some grooming, tacking up and leading ponies on rides. If you are over 16 and think you could spare a few hours per week on a regular basis, please contact us for further information on 0845 2411386, or e-mail contact@bradbourne-rda.org
You don't need to go out and buy "all the gear" before having a riding lesson. We would advise wearing boots or shoes with a small heel - though trainers are not suitable. Comfortable trousers, preferably with a bit of room for movement, and no shorts please! Riding Hats and Crops are available to borrow free of charge if necessary.
