We rely on volunteers to assist in leading ponies and a wide range of other activities associated with enabling disabled riders to have an enjoyable and rewarding experience whilst at Bradbourne.

If you have a few hours to spare each week (or even at odd times throughout the month), do consider coming along to see what we do.  You don't have to be "horsey", just have plenty of enthusiasm and willingness to help.  There are lots of people to give guidance, and each session is overseen by a qualified RDA instructor.  Some helpers go on to become instructors themselves.

Examples of activities that currently take place on a voluntary basis are:

Getting ponies ready for rides

Leading ponies or walking with riders and drivers

Helping with games and props whilst riders are in the indoor school

Looking after caravans and other equipment used by the group

Helping with special events and participating in Training Days

For participants in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, time spent helping with RDA on a regular basis qualifies for the Service element of the award.  And helping with a residential summer camp can be used as the Residential component of the Gold award.

Students planning a career in the caring professions will find that experience as an RDA helper is highly valued by admissions tutors and potential employers.

If you are over 14 years of age and would like to find out more, please see the Enquiry Form or phone 0845 2411386.

New helpers are asked to complete an enrolment form and can, if they wish, join the Bradbourne RDA Group for a membership fee of £7.00 per annum.
